He is consistent, if nothing else

Frank Rich is the most mean-spirited and angry little prick on the planet. Never a positive thing to say about any body or any thing, and always seeing conspiracies. This is not my defense of McCain in any way; but what I have found in life is that those who are the most suspicious of everyone else are those people who can be trusted the least.

There is the (very) old story about the woman who walks into the butcher shop, picks-up a chicken and begins sniffing every crevice of the dead animal up-close and personal. She turns to the butcher and says "This chicken stinks!"; and the man replies "Madame, could you pass that test?"

Hmm....not a bad analogy for the press in general.
