A Bloody Night in Jerusalem
In Jerusalem, the mourning is mingled with worry as to how events will unfold over the next 24 hours. Police on the television immediately put out a public plea for quiet and warned they would be dispersed across the city. Friday is never an easy day for security forces in Jerusalem, as Arabs gather at the al-Aksa mosque for prayers. This week it will be more tense than ever. Police are expecting a long night, followed by an even longer day.

In Gaza City, residents went out into the streets and fired rifles in celebration in the air after hearing news of the attack on the seminary. “This is God’s vengeance,” blared a loudspeaker in a Gaza City mosque.
